The questions we are asked most
Can a foreign company hire employees in Brazil without opening a legal entity?
Yes. Employment through an Employer of Record, or through our Find + Employ route, lets a foreign company recruit and legally employ people in Brazil before its own entity exists. The employee is employed compliantly in Brazil; you direct the work.
What does an employee actually cost an employer in Brazil?
Landed cost is gross salary plus statutory employer charges, provisions such as 13th salary and vacation, benefits practice for the role and city, termination provisioning and the service fee for the model used. We publish the categories and verify the figures for your specific scenario rather than quoting a single national multiplier.
When is an Employer of Record better than opening an entity?
EOR fits when headcount is small or uncertain, when speed matters more than local contracting, or when you are still validating the market. Your own entity starts to make sense with sustained headcount, local invoicing and contracting needs, or a tax position that justifies the overhead.
Is hiring Brazilians as contractors a safe alternative to employment?
Only where the relationship is genuinely independent. Where the work is directed, exclusive, continuous and integrated into your team, it carries reclassification exposure. Contractor administration handles genuine contractors correctly; employment routes handle the rest.
How long does it take to build a team in Brazil?
The timeline is driven by candidate notice periods and the seniority of the role, not by administration. Employment, payroll and equipment can be ready in parallel with the search, so the start date is not delayed by setup.
Can one company handle recruitment, employment, payroll and equipment?
That is the model SIBRA operates. One relationship covers finding people, employing them through the right route, paying them correctly, equipping them and supporting them in Portuguese while you manage in English.

It depends on the work, the duration, how the person is managed and your headcount plan. Short or project capacity often starts with staffing or a managed team; long term employees usually belong on an employment route; genuine independent professionals may be contracted. The selector compares your situation through a short diagnostic.

Timing depends on seniority, scarcity, language requirement, city and how quickly your team can interview. SIBRA runs local search execution and coordinates onboarding, equipment and payroll setup in parallel so the employment route is ready when your chosen candidate accepts.
Read the full answer →What is the difference between CLT employment and PJ contracting?
CLT is Brazilian employment with statutory rights, charges and provisions. PJ is contracting with an independent professional entity. The correct route follows the facts of the working relationship, not the preferred cost. SIBRA assesses the real relationship before recommending a structure.
Read the full answer →Can we start through SIBRA and transfer people to our own entity later?
Yes. Many companies begin on an employment or staffing route, prove the market, then transfer people into their own Brazilian entity when the economics justify the infrastructure. SIBRA plans the transition sequence, timing and employee communication as part of the engagement.
